THIS SITE AND THE CREATIONS IT FEATURES ARE LABORS OF LOVE NEARLY 35 YEARS IN THE MAKING.
When I first envisioned Worker Bee Design as a freelance graphic-design entity in 1987, I was still working for other companies. When I retired as a graphic designer from Texas A&M University in 2013, I desired a way to continue constructing and distributing beautiful works, and with the benefit of my newfound freedom, I pivoted from high-tech design to hands-on creation.
It was around this time that I both discovered stained glass and began buying Band-Aids in bulk.
The two happenings are not unrelated.

Our Process
-

THE INSPIRATION
Every project begins with your inspiration—an image, favorite style, company logo, or simply an idea worth bringing to light.
-

THE DESIGN
Together we'll refine the design, select the perfect glass, and establish a timeline that works for everyone.
-

THE CRAFTSMANSHIP
Using time-honored leaded or Tiffany copper foil techniques, your stained glass is handcrafted with patience, precision, and pride.
-

THE FINISHED PIECE
Your finished piece arrives ready to display, install, or present as a meaningful handcrafted gift that will last for generations.
I am endlessly fascinated with the process of constructing intricate and ornate stained-glass pieces from simple glass, metal, and other natural materials that strike my fancy.
Bees
Shop our beautiful, buzzing bees!
Second in the Bees in Art Genre series, our Prairie Bee is a testament to the California bungalows that still cover the coast from Baja California all the way to Canada. With it’s familiar palette of deep golds, olive greens and smoky blues, one can almost hear the waves crashing against the shore on a foggy morning in Monterrey Bay. Our Bee is 14 ½” x 11 1/4”, framed in zinc and done in the timeless Tiffany-style, and is hung with chain.
